Tax Preparation

A broad range of tax preparation for individuals, partnerships, corporations, S-corporations, trusts, estates, non-profits and gifts. We also prepare payroll tax — quarterly 941s, DE-9 & DE-9c, and annual W-2, W-3, form 940, DE-7 and 1099s — plus sales tax returns and 571-L.

Tax Planning

Comprehensive planning for individuals, businesses and estates — long term and short term. Most income tax planning is performed on a quarterly, semi-annual or annual basis. We also provide estate tax planning for many different types of estates.

Daily Money Management

Work with our Daily Money Manager to handle mail, bills, bank statements, budgets and insurance. Bill paying, budget reports, reconciliation, and advocacy on community services and benefits — protection from identity theft, fraud and elder financial abuse, and help living independently. We are members of the American Association of Daily Money Managers and follow a stringent code of ethics.

Audit Representation

Representation for all types of tax clients — written correspondence with the tax authorities, and physically representing you during an audit or in a court of law.

Offers in Compromise

For clients who cannot afford to pay their tax bills in full, we negotiate with the tax authorities to lower the bill as agreed upon on both sides.

Thomas A. Carlson

CPA · Founder, 2001

Tom provides tax, accounting and consulting services to clients throughout Placer and Sacramento counties. He is a member of the AICPA, the Downtown Roseville Partnership and the Roseville Chamber of Commerce, teaches accounting at American River College, and sits on the Board of Directors of The Gathering Inn. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration: Accounting from California State University, Chico. "My job as a CPA is to be the very best advocate for my clients and to look out for their best interests."

Darlene Carlson

Accountant & Notary Public

Darlene has been working with Carlson Tax Consultants since 2001. She previously worked as an accountant at Recology in San Francisco and as CFO at Miyamoto International in Sacramento, and taught elementary and middle school for fifteen years. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration: Finance from California State University, Chico, and a California State Teaching Credential.

Penny Snider

Administrative Assistant

Penny joined Carlson Tax Consultants in January 2016 after retiring from the State of California with over 30 years of service. She found that working with people and providing customer service were the most rewarding parts of that work, and she strives to give every CTC client professional service.
